• City of Concord to Host 11th Annual Health Expo (contracosta.news) — Concord residents are invited to a free Health Expo at the Concord Senior Center on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, with no reservations needed. You'll find Medicare, transportation, nutrition, fitness and caregiver resources, plus free haircuts and direct access to local healthcare and community organizations focused on healthy aging and wellness.
• Wild Week In Concord: Assaults, Wrong-Way Driver, DUIs, Drugs And Theft (claycord.com) — Concord police logged a busy week Sept. 23–29, with multiple arrests for alleged assaults with deadly weapons, DUIs, drug offenses, domestic violence and stolen vehicles across streets like Willow Pass, Clayton and Monument. Officers also investigated seven burglaries, including a residential break-in on Diane Court and several shoplifting cases at local stores, while noting no burglaries on Sept. 27 or 29.
• Bankrupt Retail Chain Abruptly Closes Walnut Creek and Concord Stores Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Concord pool owners just lost their local Leslie's Pool Supplies on Clayton Road as the chain shutters underperforming stores during bankruptcy. The Walnut Creek location closed too, but branches in Lafayette and Pleasant Hill remain open, and the company says online shopping, gift cards, rewards and services like water testing and repairs will continue during its financial restructuring.
