• Husband Charged In Wife's Deadly Stabbing Inside Concord Home Does Not Enter Plea (patch.com) — Residents of a Concord neighborhood are reeling after police say Thomas John Iovenitti fatally stabbed his wife, Alisha, inside their Panoramic Drive home where their three children often played outside. Prosecutors have now filed murder, domestic violence, and child endangerment charges, and Iovenitti remains jailed as the case moves toward his next court date in November. Investigators are still encouraging anyone with information about the Concord killing to contact detectives.
• Concord plan for old naval base moves forward after decades of delays (mercurynews.com) — Concord officials are finally advancing a massive redevelopment of the former Naval Weapons Station, bringing more than 12,000 planned homes, major commercial space, and hundreds of acres of parks to the city. With a new deal from the U.S. Navy, state legislation to streamline environmental review, and master developer Brookfield on board, the project could reshape Concord's housing, jobs, and open space for decades.
