  2. A Contra Costa County yacht dealer has pleaded guilty to one felony count of tax evasion and one felony count of grand theft. Deborah Reynolds failed to pay $1.3M in state taxes for her yacht sales and leasing business. She will pay restitution in that amount and she will also serve one year in state prison and have one year of supervised release. "Tax evasion is not a victimless crime — it hurts Californians by depriving the state of critical resources and services that families need," said Attorney General Bonta in a statement. 3. Pittsburg police stepped up enforcement from June 1 to Sept. 1 in a campaign to deter violent crime and get guns off the streets. They have deemed it a very successful campaign netting 103 total firearms including nine assault rifles. According to Claycord.com "The number of shootings during the three months went down 40 percent from the same period in 2021. The number of aggravated assaults, robberies, and homicides involving firearms went down 50 percent for the same period. The total number of violent crimes committed during the period went down 36 percent." (Claycord.com)
  4. On Thursday BART PD responded to reports of a fight on a train at the Walnut Creek station. Upon making contact with the suspects, police officers recognized some members of the group as being ones who were wanted in a carjacking incident at the Antioch BART station parking lot several days prior. The group of four were detained without incident at the Walnut Creek station. (Antioch Herald)
