Arrest Made In Contra Costa Crash That Killed Boy, 16: Police
A GoFundMe campaign to help send the boy's body to his family in Central America has garnered more than $22,000 in donations.
CONCORD, CA — More than $22,000 was raised as of Thursday night to help send the body of a 16-year-old Concord boy to be buried in his home country of El Salvador.
Jose Grande Castillo was riding his bicycle around 3:30 p.m. Friday when he was struck in a collision involving a tree-trimming truck and multiple other vehicles at the intersection of Galindo Street and Clayton Road, according to Concord police and the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office.
Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jorge Reyes Castillo, Jose's cousin and legal guardian in the United States, created the GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses, including sending Jose's body home to his parents in El Salavador.
One of the involved drivers, 28-year-old Concord resident Adelaido Antonio Lopez, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and was booked into the county jail, Concord police said Wednesday.

Jail records for Lopez were not available Thursday night.
"The cause of the collision, including the presence of alcohol and/or drugs, is still under investigation," police said. "Any witnesses are asked to contact Traffic Officer Nanthasiri at 925-603-5096."
