Assistance League of Diablo Valley Announces Scholarships Application Deadlines

One of eight philanthropic programs of Assistance League® of Diablo Valley, Scholarships was established in 1999. Each year, this program has offered financial aid to foster youth, high school, community college, and university students who demonstrate the need and desire to improve their lives by furthering their education. Individual scholarships could amount to as much as $5000. In 2014, high school scholarships totaled $24,000.

The Foster Youth Application Deadline is March 13, 2015. The High School Application deadline is March 27, 2015. The Community College Application deadline is March 25, 2015.

Earlier this (fiscal) year, Scholarships Committee Co-Chairmen Lesley Salo and Cindi Segali announced the addition of two categories of financial support. The Sandi Lou Back to School Scholarship is a need based, $2500 award to benefit a Contra Costa County resident returning to school after an absence. Encouraging a person who has been out of the educational system for any number of reasons to apply for reentry at the community college or university level, its requirements include a high school diploma with a minimum 2.8 GPA or a G.E.D. certificate.

Additional considerations include personal circumstances, recommendations, scholastic record, financial need, job/school activities, community involvement, educational and employment goals. This scholarship fund is open to contributions from other sources. Application deadline is March 27, 2015.
