🌱BART Earthquake Protocols + 'BCUS' Tagger Nabbed In Pittsburg

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

(Patch Media)

Hey, Concord! I'm here in your inbox today to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town, including news about:

  • The Gregory Gardens area of Pleasant Hill is going to be a mess for a couple of years as the water district retrofits the pipes and adds some fire hydrants.
  • It wasn't gunfire, but fireworks, that were heard in the Pine Hollow area of Concord on Tuesday.
  • Antioch has a Dia de los Muertos observance on November 1 that you don't want to miss!

But first, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and pleasant. High: 72 Low: 45.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Concord Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. BART held trains for 5 minutes immediately after the earthquake on Tuesday. They also reduced speeds and visually inspected the tracks to ensure post-earthquake safety. BART has a full protocol of what to do in the event of an earthquake emergency. The City of Concord has linked to it on its Facebook page, if you're interested. (City of Concord, California via Facebook)
  2. The Contra Costa Water District started work in the Gregory Gardens area of Pleasant Hill. They are going to replace and upgrade pipes, as well as install some new fire hydrants. This area has a history of leaks, so residents will ultimately benefit from the project quite a bit. Unfortunately, though, it's going to be a lengthy process, with an estimated completion date sometime in mid-2024. (Claycord.com)
  3. Residents in the Ygnacio Valley Road and Pine Hollow Road area of Concord reported hearing gunshots on Tuesday night. But the noise turned out to be fireworks. No injuries were reported. Residents say that this is, unfortunately, an almost nightly occurrence in this neighborhood. (Claycord.com)
  4. Have you been to Pittsburg and seen "BCUS" tagged on structures all over the city? Pittsburg police say over 365 structures were defaced with this tag. And now police say they've nabbed the guy who's been doing it. Twenty-five-year-old Shane Cisneros was arrested in connection with the incidents. Cisneros will be charged with felony vandalism.
