🌱Bay Point Woman Arrested For Manslaughter + Another Rolex Theft
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

Hello, all! I'm back with your new edition of the Concord Daily. Let's get this Thursday started off right with a quick guide to everything you need to know that's happening these days in town:
- Dick's Sporting Goods hit with robbery four more times this week!
- Ten new charging stations in Walnut Creek.
- Beck and Phoenix are coming to the Concord Pavilion in August.
But first, today's weather:
Plenty of sun. High: 62 Low: 37.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- In a story with enough twists and turns for a spy novel, Kristen Burns, of Bay Point, was arrested on manslaughter charges for the vehicular killing of 22-year-old Edgar Reyes Silva. Burns was allegedly driving her boyfriend's Dodge Challenger "at an estimated 154 miles per hour" on I-680 when she plowed into another vehicle near Treat Boulevard on January 18 2021, throwing Reyes Silva from the passenger's seat. He later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have been looking for her ever since, and they recently found her at a trailer park in Visalia. Whether or not she stole the vehicle from her boyfriend is still to be determined. (The Mercury News)
- Dick's Sporting Goods in Pleasant Hill was hit by robbers no fewer than four times in two days, on Monday and Tuesday this week. The robberies don't appear to have been committed by the same parties. These incidents are in addition to several robberies at the store over the past weekend. I'm wondering why all of the interest in sporting goods? Maybe people are trying to make good on their New Year's exercise resolutions. (Claycord.com)
- It's not clear why people would need to charge their cars near a vacant building, but 10 new Tesla charging stations were installed near the old Nob Hill Foods on Oak Grove Road in Walnut Creek. The building appears to still be for lease. But, if you need to charge your car, now you know where the charging stations are. (Claycord.com)
- Here's another reminder not to wear your Rolex where it can be seen in public. A man was pistol-whipped by two masked gunmen on Wednesday, demanding he give them his Rolex and wallet. The incident took place in the 2300 block of Crystal Avenue. (News 24/680)
- Real estate in Lamorinda reflected the national picture, as gains in the first half of 2022 gave way to slowing in the second half as interest rates rose. Overall, sales volumes were lower, but prices increased from the previous year. "The average sales price was $2,456,834. This was a large increase from the $2,124,266 in 2021. It was $1,916,042 in 2020, $1,789,012 in 2019, $1,736,519 in 2018. The average price has more than doubled in the last decade." (lamorindaweekly.com)
Today in Concord:
- "Don't miss Astronaut Steve Smith at the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation on Carondelet's main campus! He'll share amazing stories from his four trips to space and inspire us all to achieve our biggest goals." (7:00 PM)
- Head over to Retro Junkie in Walnut Creek for Sausage Fest Comedy: Secret Ladies Comedy Show. (7:00 PM)
- Learn to dance the Salsa and Bachata at Vinnie's Bar in Concord. (8:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- Beck and Phoenix will be coming to the Concord Pavilion! The two Grammy winners will be in Concord in August as part of their Summer Odyssey tour. (City of Concord, California via Facebook)
- The Base Reuse Project saga continues. On Saturday, January 28, the Concord City Council will hold a special meeting on approval of the Term Sheet. This is a continuation of a marathon meeting that ran over 10 hours on January 7. Residents are welcome to attend. "The meeting will be held in person at the City Council Chamber, located at 1950 Parkside Drive, and can be viewed through Zoom, Concord TV (Astound/Wave 1026, Comcast 28, AT&T U-verse 99), or streamed online through the City's website." - This picture looks like a painting! It's a picture of a hillside on Kirker Pass Road in the evening light and it's a really pretty green after the recent rains. (Claycord.com)
