Become A Food Rescue Hero In Concord; Volunteers Drivers Sought
White Pony Express is seeking volunteer drivers in Concord and throughout Contra Costa County and the Tri-Valley area.

CONCORD, CA — A nonprofit organization based in Contra Costa County is seeking Concord residents interested in becoming food rescue heroes by serving as volunteer drivers.
"White Pony Express is expanding to meet the growing need for healthy food in our communities," the organization said in a news release. "Hunger is on the rise due to inflation and supply chain disruptions and fresh, nutritious food is out of reach for many of our neighbors."
White Pony Express operates seven days a week, 364 days a year; its Food Rescue Program rescues an average of 12,000+ pounds per day of high-quality, largely perishable, surplus fresh food from over 50 local grocers, retailers, farmers markets, restaurants, and wholesalers. The organization then customizes each delivery to match the specific requests and preferences of our 80 nonprofit partner recipients, including 12 high-need school sites. All food is redistributed within 24 hours and all programs are free to its recipients.
