Bicyclist Killed In Crash With Car On Port Chicago Hwy In Concord

Port Chicago Highway was closed north of Panoramic Drive as the fatal collision was investigated.

CONCORD, CA — A bicyclist died in a collision with a car Friday morning in Concord, police said. Officers were dispatched at 6:21 a.m. to the fatal crash on Port Chicago Highway south of state Highway 4 near Panoramic Drive, according to police Cpl. Murtazah Ghaznawi.

"A vehicle traveling northbound on Port Chicago Highway collided with a 54-year-old female, who was riding a bicycle," Ghaznawi said in a statement issued just after 11 a.m. Friday.

The name of the deceased woman was not being released pending notification of her next of kin.

The driver of the car, a 68-year-old Vallejo man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Ghaznawi said.

Port Chicago Highway was closed north of Panoramic Drive for an hour and a half Friday morning as the collision was investigated.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the fatal collision.

The investigation is ongoing; any witnesses who have not already spoken with police are asked to call Traffic Officer Katan Nanthasiri at 925-671-5096.
