- It's back to the drawing board for the Concord City Council in selecting a developer for the old Naval Weapons Station. The exclusive negotiating agreement with the original developers, Seeno Homes-owned Concord First Partners, expired on January 31 after the City Council rejected the term sheet from the developer. Staff is now looking for direction from the council "on desired term sheet parameters and a method for selecting a new master developer." The council meets tonight and will hold a study session on this topic. (Claycord.com)
- As Brentwood police were investigating an unrelated incident, a citizen alerted them to a possible hostage situation at the Brentwood Garden Apartments. As police approached the complex, they heard gunshots. They located a victim and an assailant in an alleyway between buildings. The suspect opened fire and the Brentwood police returned fire, wounding the suspect. Both the suspect and victim were taken to local hospitals and are expected to survive. Once released from the hospital, the suspect will be booked on various charges, including attempted murder of a peace officer. (Claycord.com)
