Brush Fire Erupts Near Concord Commercial Area, Businesses Evacuated

The blaze on Willow Pass Court near state Highway 4 burned 30 acres.

CONCORD, CA — Firefighters stopped the forward spread of a brush fire that erupted Friday in a commercial area of Concord, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.

The vegetation fire was reported at noon Friday in the 1500 block of Willow Pass Court, just north of state Highway 4, and prompted the evacuation of businesses.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Con Fire reported that forward progress was stopped.

By 1:40 p.m., the Willow Pass Fire was 100 percent contained with no damage reported to any of the commercial buildings that were evacuated, Con Fire said.

Strong winds quickly spread the fire, which burned 30 acres, officials said.

Crews with Con Fire and Cal Fire remained on the scene to extinguish any hot spots.
