About Us
Child Advocates of Contra Costa County (formerly Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)) is dedicated to advocating for and supporting children and youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Through a range of programs, we provide the guidance, resources, and stability needed to help them navigate challenges, complete their education, and transition into adulthood with confidence.
Many of these young people face significant obstacles—more than 50% do not graduate from high school or earn a GED, and 27% become parents by age 19, increasing their risk of poverty and instability. Our programs address these challenges through court-appointed advocacy, academic support, mentoring, tutoring, and life skills development.
- Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program: Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who serve as advocates and beacons of light for children and youth navigating the child welfare or juvenile justice systems, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests are represented.
- Tutor Program: Provides high-quality, consistent, and accessible educational support using volunteers trained in trauma-informed practices to help children and youth succeed academically.
- Therapy Project California: Offers trauma-informed teletherapy services to current and former foster youth throughout the state, supporting their emotional well-being and resilience.
- Reproductive Health Program: In partnership with the Department of Public Health and Children and Family Services, provides reproductive healthcare services to youth in foster care, empowering them with knowledge and support to make informed decisions and avoid unplanned parenthood.
Through evidence-based services and individualized advocacy, we work to change life trajectories, empowering every young person we serve with the tools and support they need to build a stable, fulfilling future.
