The Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra (CCCO) is proud to announce its upcoming concert series, "Viva La Musique," a vibrant journey through the elegance and energy of French classical music. Featuring beloved works by Gabriel Faure and Georges Bizet, these performances will take place on April 26 in Pittsburg and May 3 in Orinda.
The program opens with the hauntingly beautiful and atmospheric works of Gabriel Faure. The orchestra will perform his celebrated Pavane, known for its delicate melodies and rhythmic grace, followed by the evocative Pelleas et Melisande suite, which captures the deep romanticism and drama of the classic French play.
Concluding the program is Georges Bizet's Symphony No. 1 in C Major. Written when the composer was only 17 years old, this symphony is a tour de force of youthful exuberance, melodic brilliance, and classical precision.
"French music has a unique way of balancing sophisticated textures with pure, infectious joy," says Geoffrey Gallegos, artistic Director for CCCO. "From the ethereal notes of Faure to the spirited finale of Bizet's symphony, 'Vive La Musique' is a celebration of the enduring spirit of the French repertoire."
