  1. See the East Bay parks with fresh eyes! This article in the Stockton Record takes you on a parks road trip out of Stockton and through the Delta to Contra Costa. Learn more about the Black Diamond Mines, Los Vaqueros and Mt. Diablo state parks. (Stockton Record)
  2. Ugly weather is back on the horizon and this time it is cold! Snow levels could drop as low as 1,500 feet and the Bay Area is in for some blustery winds Tuesday through Friday. The good news is that the snow in the mountains will be amazing next weekend! (Claycord.com)
  3. The federal 2023 Omnibus Appropriations Bill will set aside $1.5 million for East Bay wildfire protection. Wildfire prevention efforts that will be funded include "monitoring fire dangers and weather, staffing professionally trained full-time and on-call firefighters, maintaining specialized wildland firefighting equipment, and removing flammable vegetation to reduce wildfire risks." (Pioneer Publishers)
  4. Con Fire added 28 new firefighters to its ranks as the firefighters of Academy 58 graduated. Speaking at Wednesday evening's graduation ceremony, Fire Chief Lewis Broschard said, "These 28 recruits have accomplished much in their 20-week course of instruction, learning from the best along the way. They are now well prepared to enter the next phase of their careers, serving the residents of Contra Costa County as Con Fire firefighters." (Contra Costa News)
