Concord Cooling Center Opens Amid Heat Wave And Possible Outages

As temperatures were predicted to rise gradually, possibly reaching triple digits Monday, the Concord Senior Center will be open.

CONCORD — As temperatures were predicted to rise gradually, possibly reaching triple digits Monday, the Concord Senior Center will open as a cooling center on Sunday and Monday.

Power outages were also predicted across Northern California, according to Pacific Gas and Electric Saturday. The center will provide a relief from temperatures upwards of 100 degrees.

The center, at 2727 Parkside Circle, will be open during the hottest part of the day, between 1 and 6 p.m., to provide a cool place for residents to escape the heat, Concord city officials said.
