Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- Contra Costa County is asking residents to report damage from the recent storms, to see if any aid is available. First, you should see what recovery is available from their insurance, but once that is exhausted, you should report additional damage either through the city in which you live, or through this county link. "Individual disaster recovery assistance may be available only if specific damage thresholds are met within the county." (Claycord.com)
- Nabbed another one! Walnut Creek Police arrested a person in a stolen vehicle near Newell Avenue and Broadway on Wednesday. The suspect was also booked on charges of probation violation. (Claycord.com)
- Concord Police will step up patrols for DUI tonight from 8 pm to 2 am. Authorities remind you that driving under the influence isn't just driving drunk. Illicit, prescription and even over-the-counter medications can impair your ability to drive safely. "Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI will pay a stiff price: an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license." (Pioneer Publishers)
- The House passed another one of Concord Congressman Mark DeSaulnier's bills. This one aims to "increase aviation safety and efficiency." "As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, it is my mission to protect the safety of the flying public. Following the FAA meltdown earlier this month, it is clearer than ever that improvements must be made to our aviation safety systems," said Congressman DeSaulnier. (Contra Costa News)
Today in Concord:

- Audiorage Band "Bay Area cover band specializing in alternative rock hits from the 90s and 00s" will be at Dan's Irish Sports Bar in Walnut Creek. (10:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- If you like mac and cheese, you're in luck! "Local Kitchens on Mt. Diablo Boulevard has just added Homeroom to its roster of take-out and delivery options." Homeroom is an Oakland-based business specializing in mac and cheese. (Diablo Magazine)
- "Join the Walnut Creek Chamber and a panel of commercial real estate experts for a discussion about the city's high vacancy rates & industries to target for economic growth." You can view the event on February 14 via Zoom. (Walnut Creek Magazine)
- Let your creative juices flow! The Contra Costa Library is holding a bookmark art contest. "After you complete your bookmark, scan or take a photo, read through the contest rules below and submit your original work at any Contra Costa County library."
