  1. Check out this amazing piece of art! It's sort of difficult to figure out where the Walnut Creek hillside stops and the artist's canvas begins! Artist Heather Martin did an amazing job. (Patch)
  2. Contra Costa College is now offering free lunch to students! "The meals are catered by a rotating roster of popular local restaurants, and are offered on College Center Plaza at 12:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Lunches are first-come, first-served and only while supplies last, but in its first four weeks, has yet to turn a student away." (Concord Patch)
  3. It was quite a spectacle on Friday at the Home Depot in Concord. Roofing, pallets and other lumber went up in flames right outside the store! Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the main store and no injuries were reported. (Claycord.com)
  4. A female suspect has been arrested in conjunction with a robbery that took place at the Wells Fargo ATM at 699 Contra Costa Blvd. The robbery happened on October 24 and Police believe the woman acted alone. (Claycord.com)
  5. There are lots of Halloween happenings in the East Bay Regional Parks this weekend! Everything from scavenger hunts to haunted farms to a celebration of the Creatures of Crab Cove awaits you! Dress warmly and be prepared to have a hauntingly good time. (Pioneer Publishers)

  • "Through the end of November, Bobbie and Tom Preston will collect bikes
    once again for     Cycle Recycle (scroll to page 3) to be given to various charitable organizations to refurbish and distribute to those in need for the holidays. New and/or used bicycles in working or repairable order, or useable bike parts may be delivered to the right side of the driveway of the Preston's home at 1307 Larch Avenue in Moraga. Please no skateboards, scooters, razors or plastic bikes. For questions call 925-376-8474. Thank you to Bobbie and Tom for providing this successful community service for the past 25 years!"
  • Head over to the Harvest CARnival at Golden Hills Community Church in Antioch Monday night, Oct. 31. There will be a trunk-or-treat, food trucks, games and candy!
