A judge set Iovenitti’s bail at $1,000 on May 19 over prosecutors’ objections, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney's office.
The court also issued stay-away orders that prohibited him from contacting his wife or returning to the family’s residence.
The new complaint charges Iovenitti with murder and three additional felonies: dissuading a witness from reporting a crime on Oct. 23, assault with a deadly weapon involving a knife, and corporal injury to a spouse. The latter two charges relate to the May 9 incident.
The complaint also includes five misdemeanor counts: one count of violating a court order and four counts of child endangerment. Three child endangerment counts relate to Oct. 23, and one to May 9.
Iovenitti remains in custody without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility. His arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today in Department 6 at the Contra Costa County Superior Court Annex in Martinez.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 29 years to life in prison.
