Concord Man Robbed At Gunpoint In His Garage

The suspects took his phone and a saw while wielding what looked like a sawed-off shotgun.

Police are looking for two suspects in an armed robbery that occurred in an open garage in Concord Monday afternoon, a police lieutenant said.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1900 block of David Avenue around 3:45 p.m., Concord police Lt. Ivan Menchaca said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was in his garage with the garage door open where two men approached him, Menchaca said.

One of the suspects brandished what looked like a sawed-off shotgun from his pants and demanded money from the victim, according to Menchaca.

The victim told both suspects he did not have money with him and offered his cellphone and skill saw instead, the lieutenant said. The suspects took the two items then fled by foot west toward Cayce Court, Menchaca said.

Once the suspects left, the victim closed his garage door and called police, according to Menchaca. Officers searched the area with the assistance of a police K-9 but were unable to locate the suspects, Menchaca said.

The first suspect is described as a black man in his 20s and standing about 6 feet tall with a heavy build and facial hair. He was armed with what is believed to be a sawed-off shotgun and was wearing a black jacket similar to a hoodie and black pants, police said.

The second suspect is described as a black man standing about 6 feet tall and last seen wearing a black hat and black jacket, according to police.
