📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- As Mayor Aliano ends his year in the position, he reflects on the many successes that Concord has had. From increasing public safety through programs like automatic license plate readers to shoring up Concord's financial position, the mayor recounts many successes of this City Council in this letter to The Pioneer.
- Another atmospheric river is upon us! We could see some minor flooding today, the most active days of the storm. Concord is likely to get north of an inch of rain and we'll also probably see a wind advisory last through the afternoon today. (Concord Patch)
- In about the last month and a half, Concord has seen 90 vehicle burglaries. Twenty of those happened on Diamond Boulevard between Willow Pass Road and Concord Avenue. (Claycord.com)
- Three plaintiffs, who were students at Miramonte High School between 2007 and 2009, filed suit against Miramonte and Acalanes Union High School District, alleging that "both were negligent in allowing a former teacher to continue teaching after officials knew he was sexually abusing them." The teacher plead no contest to several charges in 2009 and was sentenced to two years in state prison, along with fines and restitution to be paid. "The former students are suing for 'an amount to be determined at trial.'" (Claycord.com)
- Be aware that two incidents of routine bank trips ended with scary situations for the victims of attempted robbery in the Lamorinda area over the last few days. On Thursday afternoon, one woman was returning home from a trip to the bank when she found herself "hemmed in by two men in a Mercedes, one of whom reached into her car in an attempt to take her purse, jewels and other items." A similar situation unfolded in Lafayette the day before. (News 24/680)
