Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. Livability.com named Concord one of the most affordable cities on the West Coast. The index took into account median home price as well as median income in the analysis. Brentwood also made the list from the East Bay. (EastCountyToday)
  2. While results are not yet official, it looks like two incumbents have kept their seats on the Concord City Council. Mayor Aliano ran unopposed, so it's a safe bet he'll return to the council next year. It looks like incumbent Laura Hoffmeister will also retain her seat. In District 5, however, it looks like the incumbent will fall to newcomer Laura Nakamura. (Bay City News)
  3. There's lots of drama in the East Bay these days — of the very best kind! I'm talking about stage dramas — and comedies — that are playing everywhere from the Lesher Center in Walnut Creek to El Campanil in Antioch. If you haven't got a "Clue" what I mean, head to the Lesher for its production of Clue. And if it's monsters you're looking for, you can find Dracula at the Nick Rodriguez Theatre this weekend, or The Addams Family, playing in Pittsburg through November 20. There are plenty of other productions to choose from, so head out and treat your family to a night at the show! (Pioneer Publishers)
  4. New construction next to Walnut Creek BART has traffic rerouted to a new station entrance starting yesterday. The old entrance is permanently closed. "The station entrance via North California Boulevard will open slightly north of the existing entrance." All other entrances, and the pedestrian pathway, remain open. (Claycord.com)
  5. A warrant is out for the arrest of ex-Pittsburg police officer Armando Montalvo. The district attorney filed charges yesterday in regard to "a four-count complaint for illegal assault weapon sales and the possession of illegal assault weapons," according to a press release from the Contra Costa District Attorney's office. Bail was set at $200,000. (News 24/680)

Today in Concord:

  • Antioch is having a Veterans Day Celebration honoring those who served. Festivities take place at the Antioch Marina. (9:30 AM)
  • The Unauthorized Rolling Stones tribute will be at Retro Junkie in Walnut Creek. (7:00 PM)
  • Take a ride out to Pleasanton and catch Willie Barcena at Tommy T's. (7:30 PM)

From my notebook:

  • "Diablo Women's Chorale holiday concerts are coming soon! Join us on either Saturday, December 10 at 3:00 PM or Sunday, December 11 at 3:00 PM. TO PURCHASE ADVANCED TICKETS ONLINE GO TO: diablowomenschorale.org" (News 24/680)
  • Last week, Monument Crisis Center received over 1,500 boxes of cereal from De La Salle High School. "This amazing donation has already fed over 500 families! Thank you De La Salle students, parents, and staff for making this happen." (Monument Crisis Center via Facebook)
  • "This year marks a 25 year partnership between the Concord Chamber and City of Concord, California to present Business Recognition Awards to businesses that contribute to the City's economic vitality through longevity, employment, tax revenue, innovation, and community impact. We have honored over 170 Concord businesses, and added three more to the list in October." (Greater Concord CA Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
