Here are the top five stories in Concord today:
- Concord residents gathered at the library to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday. There was food and fun for everyone. Kids got to sit in the cab of police cars and watch a drone demonstration. Per The Pioneer, "groups such as the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse and Concord's Community Youth Center presented information to attendees. Also attending [were] members from Contra Costa Health Services Black Infant Health program." It was another roaringly successful National Night Out, Concord! If you missed the festivities, check out the pictures at this link. (Pioneer Publishers)
- Did you know you can get your car washed without using any water?? In this midst of this ugly drought California seems to be perpetually battling, that is an interesting prospect! A company named No-H2O, based in Clayton, is doing just that. No-H2O Waterless Auto Detailing uses biodegradable sprays that provide high quality washes and polishes. It's an interesting business model in our dry times. (Pioneer Publishers)
- Walnut Creek's Bounty Hunter Restaurant General Manager Scott Andrews told News 24/680 that at approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday a lone patron leaving the restaurant was approached by three individuals in the parking lot behind the business. The suspects reportedly escaped with an undetermined amount of personal belongings, and were last seen on Mt. Diablo Boulevard. Nothing occurred inside the restaurant or in the outdoor seating area, but Scott is assisting police in trying to find CCTV footage from the landlord. "We are committed to the safety and security of all of our guests and businesses in the downtown area," he told the news outlet. (News 24/680)
- Antioch Police have confirmed that a firearm was located in a bag on the Antioch High School campus on Tuesday. It was unknown where the bag came from or who it belonged to, according to authorities. "According to the District, a custodian located the firearm near the football field and within minutes contacted the Antioch police Department who removed it from campus. It then became a police matter and they would not be releasing any other information." Today is the first day of classes for the Antioch school district. (East County Today)
- Have you seen Diablo Magazine's Best of the East Bay for kids? They've got loads of activities in there for the little ones. Readers picked Roughing It Day Camp in Lafayette as the best summer camp and they liked Gretchen Adams Photography in Concord for their family photos. Whatever your needs for your littles, these guys have chosen the best of the best just for you, and I know that's just what you want for your kids, too! (Diablo Magazine)
