Concord Opens City Council, Treasurer Candidate Filing For Nov. 3 Election

CONCORD, CA — Concord residents interested in serving in local government can now file to run for City Council or city treasurer in the Nov. 3 election.

Voters will elect City Council representatives for Districts 1, 3, and 5, along with the city's elected treasurer. The candidate nomination period is open until Aug. 7.

City councilmembers establish city policy, set the direction of local government, and approve staffing and budget allocations. Each councilmember serves a four-year term.

The city treasurer is elected at large, representing all Concord residents rather than a specific district, and also serves a four-year term. The position primarily serves in an advisory role by overseeing the city's investments to meet financial needs and providing quarterly investment reports to the City Council.

Candidates for City Council must live within the district they seek to represent and be registered voters in that district. Candidates for city treasurer must be Concord residents and registered voters.

Prospective candidates must obtain a nomination packet from the City Clerk's Office by scheduling an appointment at (925) 671-3390 or by emailing cityclerk@cityofconcord.org.

Completed nomination paperwork must be submitted by Aug. 7 to qualify for the November ballot.
