Concord Police to Carry Special Olympics Torch

Members of the Concord Police Department will run a leg of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run on Tuesday, June 19, according to a news release.

The torch will make its way through Contra Costa County on Tuesday, June 19, on its way to The Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games at UC Davis, June 22 through 24.

After traveling through Alameda County, the torch will arrive in Contra Costa via Danville. Walnut Creek police expect to escort the torch from Broadway Plaza to Pleasant Hill starting at 9:30 a.m., according to a news release. A transfer will be made to Pleasant Hill police near the Kohl's store, before another transfer is made to Concord Police. 

In California the Law Enforcement Torch Run involves more than 3,000 police officers who carry the Special Olympics Torch more than 500 miles and through more than 150 communities.
