Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- The Contra Costa County Probation Department has been awarded a $389,700 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to monitor high-risk, repeat DUI probation criminals. Grant funding will be used to make sure DUI probation criminals are following the court ordered terms of their probation, including home, work and office visits, alcohol testing and warrant service operations. - Concord police closed Adelaide Street on Wednesday looking for evidence associated with a shooting reported earlier in the evening. Police began a search for clues after a man walked in to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach and police found evidence of gunshot strikes to buildings in the 1500 block of Adelaide Street. - About 1,300 households in Martinez were in the dark on Wednesday night after some reports of a loud "pop" or "boom." PG&E acknowledged the outage and immediately began working on a fix. (News 24/680)
- Margaret Stauffer, LMFT, Chief Mission Officer at the Walnut Creek-based Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area was awarded The President's Award by AstraZeneca, in partnership with Scientific American Custom Media, as part of the third annual Cancer Community Awards. This top award honors those who make a tangible and inspiring difference for patients and their loved ones. (Contra Costa Herald)
- As of 5:35 pm Wednesday, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office confirmed they were still looking for a missing woman in Bay Point. Adela Dela Pena, 87, is considered at-risk and family members said she is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She was last seen Tuesday at her home on the 600 block of Victoria Court in Bay Point at about 8:40 pm. Anyone who has seen Pena or has any information is asked to contact Sheriff's Office dispatch at (925) 646-2441. (East County Today)
