Concord Student Arrested After Alleged Teacher Attack

Concord police arrested a 15-year-old student of a Concord high school Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly attacked a teacher.

CONCORD - Concord police arrested a 15-year-old student of a Concord high school Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly attacked a teacher, a police corporal said Thursday.

Police officers responded at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday to the incident at Mt. Diablo High School at 2450 Grant St., Cpl. Christopher Blakely said.

A student allegedly fought with a teacher, striking him multiple times. Blakely said the teacher suffered a minor injury but refused medical attention.

According to NBC Bay Area, the 15-year-old is being charged with assault after police say he beat up his physical education teacher.

"The student was walking towards the gym. The teacher told him he couldn’t be there," Concord Police Cpl. Chris Blakely told the station. "Some words were exchanged between him and the teacher and it lead to a physical altercation."

The incident at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord was caught on cellphone video. The 27-second video shows the student and teacher throwing punches.

The student was arrested but was later released to a parent, Blakely said.

Mt. Diablo Unified School District has suspended the teen and will determine further disciplinary action after an investigation.
