CONCORD, CA — The second annual Concord Taco Trail Challenge officially has officially wrapped up.

Five competitors successfully completed the full passport trail that featured 47 check-in locations. Jeff Child, Justin Cook, Spencer Silvestre, Robert Furlow and Ernesto Hernandez were the finalists who achieved elite “Trail Master” status by visiting all participating locations during the month-long challenge Sept. 15-Oct. 15, Visit Concord announced in a news release.

But there can only be one 2021 Concord Taco Trail Champion.

With nearly 1,000 sign-ups for the free mobile Taco Trail passport, there was a significant increase this year in the number of participants and restaurant visits.

During last year's challenge, the 2020 Taco Trail Champion, Leyanne Amos, was the only competitor who visited all 32 designated check-in points.

While the Taco Trail Challenge has ended for the year, the Taco Trail passport continues through next September. Taco lovers can download a Taco Trail map and the free mobile passport through the Visit Concord website. Participants can still earn a Taco Trail T-shirt by making 10 check-ins or can go for Trail Master status by visiting all locations.
