Here are the top three stories today in Concord:
- COVID-19 has spiked across all nine counties in the Bay Area, including Contra Costa County. In the last week, Contra Costa County has seen an increase in cases as well as hospitalizations. All nine counties are considered in the "high risk" category, according to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention map. (KRON 4)

- A new bill making its way through the California state legislature could protect employees working outdoors in significant heat. If passed, Assembly Bill 2243 would task California's Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board to consider and set standards for workers when temperatures exceed 105 degrees Fahrenheit. These standards include paid rest breaks, heat illness prevention plans, and lowering the limit of quality air before respiratory protective equipment is required. (California Patch)
