Crews Battle Brush Fire In Pittsburg Hills

PITTSBURG, CA — Firefighters stopped the forward spread of a brush fire Monday morning just south of state Highway 4 in Pittsburg.

The Leland Fire was reported at 10:25 a.m. at West Leland Road and Golf Club Road and forward progress was stopped by 12:10 p.m., the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.

The early-season, second-alarm vegetation fire burned an estimated 7 acres in the hills south of W. Leland and Golf Club, and was 50 percent contained by 11:45 a.m., Con Fire said.

No structures were threatened and there were no evacuations ordered, officials said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation early Monday afternoon.
