🌱Don't Forget To Vote Concord! + Householder Recall Ended

Morning, Concord! It's me, Jeri Karges, your host of the Daily. Here's what you need to know about what's happening in town today.

It's election day! Don't forget to vote!!


First, today's weather:

Here are the top five stories today in Concord:

  1. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day, which is today. If you want to vote in person, your polling place is on the back of your election guide. Drive through drop off will be available at the Clerk-Recorder-Elections Offices from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you didn't register, you will need to cast a provisional vote. It is a one-stop opportunity to register and cast your ballot and is available at the office at 555 Escobar Street in Martinez, and all polling places on Election Day. (Claycord.com)
  2. The Pioneer has updated its spring calendar of events for the area and there is soooo much to do! There's a writer's club, a wine walk, a symphony royale and even a performance of "Antigone!" What will you choose to do this summer? (Pioneer Publishers)
  3. The city of Oakley Parks Division announced it has activated its water spray features. The park water spray features will be open seven days a week, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day, September 5. The spray parks are free to use and great fun for everyone! (East County Today)
  4. The committee for the Recall Antioch City Clerk Ellie Householder has announced that it did not get the required number of signatures for recall so the effort has ended. "Ellie Householder is the first elected official to be the subject of two local recalls. First as an Antioch Unified School Board Trustee and then as Antioch's City Clerk." Neither recall effort was successful. (East County Today)
  5. The Town of Danville and the Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley are preparing for the return of the Kiwanis July 4 Parade in downtown Danville. The parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the north end of Hartz Avenue near San Ramon Valley High School. For a list of road closures and parking suggestions, visit the town's webpage.   • The gargantuan blackberries are back at the Concord farmers market at Todos Santos Plaza! Bake 'em into pies and tarts or just eat them like candy! (9 a.m.)
  • Eats & Beats food trucks and music will be at Giacomelli Park in Pittsburg. (5 p.m.)
  • Ruben Navarrette Jr., nationally syndicated columnist, host of the podcast "Ruben In The Center," and author of "A Darker Shade of Crimson: Odyssey of a Harvard Chicano" will be at Hofmann Theatre in Walnut Creek. (7:30 p.m.)

  • Join the City of Concord June 11-24 for Creative Concord events, a celebration of arts and culture in Concord. There will be live artist mural painting, performances, and special events, all month long. Find the complete schedule at CreativeConcordCA.com. (Visit Concord via Instagram)
  • Brentwood is hosting the 2nd Annual Bags, Bites and Brews Cornhole Tournament! Grab a friend and register to compete. $60 ticket includes BOTH PLAYERS on your team and an awesome custom event shirt! (East County Today)
  • Local middle and high school students will be able to drop-in at the new Student Wellness Summer Program (the SWELL Center) through July 29 at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center. The program offers teens, ages 12 - 18, a variety of active and self-guided activities such as board games, cards, journaling and crafts, as well as community engagement opportunities and access to support groups.
