Driver Killed, Woman And Children Injured In Concord Blvd. Crash
One driver died while the other driver, as well as three young children, suffered serious injuries, according to Concord police.

CONCORD, CA — One person was killed and four others — including three young children — were injured in a crash between two vehicles Tuesday night in Concord. The Concord Police Department at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday began receiving numerous calls about the collision on Concord Boulevard near 3rd Street, police said in a news release Wednesday morning.
Officers as well as Contra Costa County Fire Protection District paramedics and firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where the driver of the once of the vehicles was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 32-year-old woman from Concord, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Three children who were passengers in the car — two 8-year-olds and a 10-month-old — also suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and taken to a hospital.

The identity of the deceased driver was being released Wednesday morning pending positive identification and notification of next of kin by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office, police said.
Concord Boulevard was closed for about three hours as investigation into the collision was conducted. Police said their preliminary investigation indicated both cars were traveling eastbound on Concord Boulevard prior to colliding.

Police said the surviving driver is cooperating with the investigation, and that neither drugs nor alcohol were believed factors.
