Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- Hey, did you feel the earthquake?! Yeah, pretty much nobody did. It was a 2.9 temblor that hit near Danville on Saturday afternoon. If you were in Danville, Alamo or Walnut Creek and you were paying attention, you might have felt it. (Claycord.com)
- It was a sad sight in Pleasant Hill when vandals defaced a memorial to the lives lost on 9/11. It was sad until a military vet stepped up and, with a little elbow grease, did what he could to clean up the spray paint that covered the memorial. Israel Massallo served in the National Guard for eight years and knows how much these memorials mean to people. Thank you, Israel, for helping your community be a brighter place! (Claycord.com)
- News 24/680 has some dramatic pictures of a tree that just couldn't take it anymore after the storms. A huge 80-foot tree came down on a couple of unsuspecting cars and made quite a mess in Pleasant Hill on Saturday. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. (News 24/680)
- If you're getting calls from your neighbors asking you for money, you might want to take a deep breath before you lay into them. Apparently, scammers are using local, legitimate numbers to robocall locals and scam them out of money. So, don't get angry with your neighbors. Quietly hang up and report the incident. The authorities will help you figure out if it's a scam or a neighbor who you forgot you owed money. (News 24/680)
- The November 8 elections are now fully certified in Contra Costa County. "Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar Debi Cooper certified the results of the November 8, 2022, General Election today, Friday, Dec. 2, 2022. The final official report for this election is now posted on the Contra Costa County Elections website at www.contracostavote.gov." (Contra Costa Herald)
