Art Exhibit - Africa: Two Views

aRt Cottage will present an art show of painting, scratchboard and photographs presenting two distinct views of the wildlife and people of Africa. Photographers Mark and Cathy Pemberton, with artist Walter Crew, have assembled a series of images that present two different perspectives of the continent. Walter Crew draws upon the colors and patterns of the land and culture of Africa to create paintings that capture the richness and vitality of the wildlife and native populations. Photographers Mark and Cathy Pemberton have eschewed the use of color to produce a series of powerful, intimate black and white portraits intended to isolate the personality and soul of the animals and people of Africa.

About:

Walter Crew is a well-known artist in the San Francisco East Bay area. He is a member of multiple artist associations and participates regularly in local art shows. His award winning paintings can be found in local galleries. Walter is best knows for his paintings of animals and his richly textured landscapes and backgrounds.

Mark and Cathy Pemberton are local photographers with passions for travel and for sharing their experiences. Their adventures have included photographing landscapes and wildlife in Alaska, the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, polar bears in Churchill Canada, Iceland, the Southwest, winter in Yellowstone, Death Valley and of course Africa. Many of their photographs have won first prize awards in local and regional photo contests. They also make regular presentations to local groups regarding their travel experiences.

aRt Cottage is the newest gallery/studio in Concord, CA where artists can enjoy 3 dimensional as well as 2 dimensional art by local Bay Area artists.  Exhibits change on a monthly basis.  There is no admission fee and the public is always invited to free art receptions where refreshments are served.
