Fight Escalates To Shooting Tuesday In Concord
One man injured; police are looking for the shooter described as a white or Hispanic man between 18 and 25 years old.

A fight between two men in Concord Tuesday afternoon escalated into a shooting that left one injured, a police lieutenant said.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Clayton Road and Ygnacio Valley Road around 3:30 p.m., Concord police Lt. David Hughes said. A man suffering from a gunshot wound was found on the ground and was treated at the scene, Hughes said.
He was transported to a hospital where he is expected to survive, according to Hughes. Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears the man and his friend were walking on Clayton Road west of Ygnacio Valley Road where the suspect walked up to them, Hughes said.

Words were exchanged between the victim and suspect before they got into a physical fight, according to Hughes.
The suspect took out a handgun in the fight, shot at the victim and fled west on Clayton Road, the lieutenant said. Police set up a perimeter and searched for the suspect without success, he said.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man between 18 and 25 years old standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing roughly 170 pounds, police said. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants at the time of the shooting, according to police.
