Flaring Possible From Tesoro Plant Through Monday
The flaring is part of a planned shutdown process, said a company spokesman.
The Tesoro Martinez refinery is currently in turnaround, with half of the plant shut down for planned maintenance and remaining processing units shutting down over the next 24 hours due to a United Steel Workers’ decision to strike, said Brian Nunnally of Tesoro’s No. CA Gov’t & Public Affairs department on Sunday evening.
As part of this process, area residents may see flaring, which is the standard and safe way to burn off excess emissions, he said.
