Former Pittsburg Police Officer Faces Assault Weapon Charges: DA
Former Pittsburg PD Officer Armando Montalvo is accused of illegal assault weapon sales and possession.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A former officer with the Pittsburg Police Department faces a four-count complaint for illegal assault weapon sales and the possession of illegal assault weapons, the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Armando Montalvo was charged Thursday with two felony counts of manufacture, distribution, sale or transport of an assault weapon, and two felony counts for possession of assault weapons, according to a news release from the DA's Office.
It is alleged the offenses took place Nov. 13, 2019, and Nov. 16, 2019, in Contra Costa County while Montalvo was employed as a peace officer with the Pittsburg Police Department.

Montalvo resigned from the Pittsburg Police Department July 8.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and his bail has already been set at $200,000, the DA's Office said.

The DA's Office did not disclose details about the case and said it would not be making any further comments because it's an ongoing criminal investigation.
