Friday Night Fire Injured Four, Displaced 25 Residents

CONCORD, CA — A three-alarm fire at a Concord apartment complex Friday night left four people with minor injuries and displaced 25 residents, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials.

The fire was first reported at the Diablo View Apartments at 4265 Clayton Road around 9:30 p.m., fire officials said.

Upon arrival, fire officials saw a large amount of fire in the back of a three-story building at the complex. The fire had extended into units in the building's second and third floors, as well as into the structure's attic space, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control by about 10:30 p.m., fire officials said.

Four residents suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation. Medical personnel treated all of the victims at the scene.

The American Red Cross responded and is assisting the 25 residents who were displaced, according to fire officials.

The fire caused about $900,000 in damages. Firefighters however were able to salvage many of the residents' belongings from inside their apartments, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
