'Get the Scoop' With Concord Mayor, Learn To Swim, Do Business, Volunteer: Concord Community Events

Residents are invited to share ideas, questions, and feedback with Mayor Nakamura at one of the upcoming events in Concord.

CONCORD, CA — Concord residents have several opportunities this month to connect with city leaders, enroll in programs, and engage with local businesses. Events include a mayoral listening-and-ice cream session, a new skate shop opening, swim lessons registration, and business info session.

Mayor Laura Nakamura will host “Get the Scoop with the Mayor” on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Eureka! (1975 Diamond Blvd, Ste. C 160). Residents can share questions, ideas, and feedback while learning about ongoing city initiatives.

In downtown Concord, Esse Skate Co. has opened a new storefront at 1806 Colfax Street. Founded in 2019 by local skater Fern, the company carries skateboards, apparel, sunglasses, and custom screen-printed designs. The brand grew from grassroots community support and now brings its creative and technical team together under one roof, according to the company. More details are available at esseskate.com.

The City of Concord Recreation Services Department is accepting registration for spring and summer swim lessons. Certified lifeguards will teach American Red Cross classes for all skill levels. Residents can register online at concordreg.org.

The Concord City Council is recruiting a business community representative for the Measure V Oversight Committee. The committee reviews annual audits, including Measure V revenues and expenditures, and advises the council on fund use. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 27. Local business owners can also attend the first session of “Let’s Talk Business” on Feb. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gratitude Coffee Bar in downtown Concord. Hosted by the city’s economic development team and the CEO of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, the monthly office hours are designed to make it easier for businesses to ask questions, share feedback, and build relationships.
