CONCORD, CA — The city of Concord is bringing back its holiday gift card promotion to help boost local business, a statement from the city's economic development specialist Robert Carrera said.
The Shop Concord e-gift card program is designed to promote local shopping by offering bonuses to people who buy the gift cards.
A purchase of a $100 gift card comes with a $50 bonus, a $50 card will earn a $25 bonus, and a $20 gift card will come with a $10 bonus to be used at participating local businesses.

The Shop Concord program is funded by a $10,000 contribution from the city of Concord, which was used to pay for the bonus amounts, Carrera's statement said.
"I am pleased to see ongoing support for local businesses during the upcoming holiday season," said Mayor Dominic Aliano. "Relaunching Shop Concord continues the momentum of local economic support that this program accomplishes."

The cards can be used at any of the 70 businesses currently participating and can be gifted electronically to other people.
Shop Concord was launched in 2020 and sold 978 gift cards for a total value of $31,020.
More information on purchasing the gift cards and participating as a merchant in the program can be found on the city's Shop Concord page online.
"The Shop Concord program has been an overwhelming success since it was originally launched to support our local business community that experienced significant setbacks due to the pandemic," said Melissa Rea, president and CEO of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce. "This holiday season, the Chamber is excited to partner with the City of Concord on the launch of a new round of the Shop Concord program, and to build on the program's success from previous years."
