- I'm not sure if this arrest was due to diligent cops or unlucky criminals, but either way, it's nice work! Two Pleasant Hill police officers were doing a walkthrough of the Target parking lot, trying to find evidence from a raft of grab-and-run robberies, when they saw a grab-and-run in progress. Thankfully, the police ran faster than the alleged criminals. Three folks from San Jose were arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. (Claycord.com)
- A widespread power outage hit Lamorinda Thursday morning. PG&E says about 1,700 customers were impacted. Bring out the blankets! Chilly mornings without the heater are the worst! (News 24/680)
- The Contra Costa Community College District is encouraging students to take advantage of the federally funded $30 monthly discount for home Internet usage. The Affordable Connectivity Program qualifications include "household income of $55,000 or less, or if anyone in a household receives Lifeline, Free or Reduced School Lunch assistance, CalFresh or SNAP, Medi-Cal or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Pell Grant, or WIC." - Several collisions snarled traffic in the area on Thursday morning, including a collision on I-680 Southbound north of S Main St in Walnut Creek that rankled drivers.
