Heat is expected to return to the Bay Area this week, with Thursday forecast to be the warmest.

CONCORD, CA — Heat is expected to return to Concord and the Bay Area during the latter half of this week as high pressure builds over the region.

The hottest afternoon is likely to be on Thursday when temperatures warm to 15-25 degrees above normal and inland locations likely exceed 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, forecasters expect coastal areas to reach into the 80s with the possibility of a few locations approaching 90.

In Concord, the high temp Thursday is forecast to reach 89.

The short duration of this heat event and adequate overnight cooling will likely limit overall heat risks for the general population, the National Weather Service said. However, those sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration will be at risk of heat-related illnesses.
