  1. Contra Costa Health Services wants you to be healthy for the holidays. As a resident of the county, you are now eligible for four free at-home COVID tests, and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your home to get them! "County residents can request the four tests from the county by visiting this site or by calling (833) 829-2626. COVID tests are also available for free at all county library branches and via healthcare providers." (Patch)
  2. A deadly collision involving several vehicles and a pedestrian closed several lanes of eastbound Highway 4 at San Marcos Boulevard in Bay Point early Wednesday morning. Lanes were back open before 7:30 a.m. (Concord Patch)
  3. Good news! Soon there will be a public access point for Thurgood Marshall Regional Park. This park is located at the old Naval Weapons Station. The Park District received $3 million dollars for the project as part of the California budget signed by Governor Gavin Newsom in June, and on November 15, the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors unanimously voted to go ahead with securing the funds. (East County Today)
  4. Save Mount Diablo purchased an option to buy Krane Pond, a parcel on North Peak that's part of the "Missing Mile"— a square mile of privately owned land on the mountain. If Save Mount Diablo can secure funds of $500,000 to purchase the parcel, the land will be permanently protected. (Concord Patch)
  5. Ten local cardiologists announced they will join John Muir Health's Cardiovascular Medical Group. These cardiologists are currently part of Stanford Health Care and practice in Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Brentwood and San Ramon, along with four other locations in and around the Bay Area.
