Horse May Die After Hit-and-Run Crash

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Investigators are looking for a driver who fled after slamming into the back of a horse trailer Tuesday morning in unincorporated Contra Costa County, officials with the California Highway patrol said.

A gray Toyota Tundra slammed into the trailer at about 7:30 a.m. on Kirker Pass Road near Hess Road. The horse is not expected to survive its injuries.

Before a CHP officer arrived, someone driving a white sedan picked up the driver of the Toyota and the two left the area, according to CHP officials.

The officials described the driver of the Toyota as a Hispanic man with a shaved head and tattoos up both arms to his neck.
