Hybrid Car Catches Fire Near Concord DMV
A video of the fire posted to Twitter shows tall, explosive flames bursting into the air.

CONCORD, CA — A hybrid car burst into flames Wednesday afternoon near the Concord DMV, a spokesman for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District confirmed. The fire at 2121 Meridian Park Blvd. was reported at 3:52 p.m. by six or seven callers, with at least one engine crew dispatched shortly thereafter, said Steve Hill of Con Fire.
Video of the fire involving a Hyundai — possibly an Ioniq — posted by a Twitter user showed tall, explosive flames bursting into the air.
"I could hear the batteries pop..." the Twitter user wrote.

Hill said the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes and no injuries were reported.
Information from the scene indicated it was a hybrid vehicle, Hill said.

According to Hyundai, the Ioniq comes in three options: hybrid, electric and plug-in hybrid.
