Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- The Concord police traffic unit headed over to Brentwood on Friday morning to help with school zone traffic enforcement. "Officers conducted over 75 traffic enforcement stops for what they refer to as 'primary collision factor' violations, or violations found to cause collisions." (Claycord.com)
- You can (virtually) attend the final steering committee meeting for the Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Concord on Tuesday. "Hazard mitigation planning reduces loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters." (Claycord.com)
- Five juveniles were identified in the Pleasant Hill Parks vandalism that has, so far, cost the city over $15,000. Working with Pleasant Hill Middle School, Pleasant Hill police were able to make positive identifications of the perpetrators and refer them to juvenile probation. The juveniles will face community service and restitution. (Pioneer Publishers)
- Witnesses allegedly watched as robbers hit Dirt Cheap Liquors on Willow Pass Road in Concord. The suspects fled in a white pickup truck followed by a blue Honda. As one witness tried to follow the caravan, someone in the Honda opened fire. Nobody was hurt in the incident, but the witness alerted law enforcement. Police found the white pickup abandoned near Acalanes High School, but have not yet found the blue Honda. "The Honda was reportedly last seen on Deer Hill Road, heading toward downtown Lafayette." - Are you passionate about gun violence prevention? Then Contra Costa Health Services is looking for you to join its new Gun Violence Prevention Coalition. The coalition aims to include a diverse membership as it develops a "gun violence prevention sustainability plan." ... "We strongly encourage residents to apply with lived experience, diverse backgrounds, and perspectives." (News 24/680)
