🌱Kiddie Academy Coming To Concord + Supervisor Carlson Pens Letter

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

(Patch Media)

Hello, everybody! It's Jeri Karges, your host of the Concord Daily — here to impart all the most important things happening in town.

  • Thwart those mosquitos by getting rid of standing water.
  • A Pittsburg man was found guilty for a second time, of killing his wife.
  • Three burglars were busy Friday night, hitting four homes in Walnut Creek and Alamo.

But first, today's weather:

Partly sunny. High: 60 Low: 39.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. A Pittsburg man was found guilty for a second time in the shooting death of his wife nearly 10 years ago. On Friday Kevin Jerome Easter was found guilty of first-degree murder of his wife, Janice Easter. The case was a retrial after the original conviction was overturned on appeal, due to issues Kevin Jerome's attorneys had raised over his competence to stand trial. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. (Claycord.com)
  2. Registered nurses at the John Muir Behavioral Health Center in Concord are going to picket on January 24. The nurses will be picketing to raise awareness of what they call chronic understaffing levels. "We are seeing an increase in community need for behavioral health services, especially since the start of the pandemic," said Sara Starr-Cho, RN on the adult care unit. "JMH needs to staff up to meet this increase, so that nurses can care for unique needs of all of our patients." (National Nurses United)
  3. Construction is going on next to the Taco Bell on Clayton Road. It just looks like a forest of 2x4s right now, but what will it eventually be? Well, two buildings are actually under construction. One will be a Dutch Bros. Coffee and the other will be a Kiddie Academy child care facility. A one-stop to drop off your kids and grab some coffee before work: Perfect! (Claycord.com)
  4. New Contra Costa County Supervisor Ken Carlson addressed his first open letter to his constituents in the communities of Pleasant Hill, Clayton, Concord and Walnut Creek. He's a local boy who made good and he's ready to serve. See his background and priorities in his letter published by The Pioneer.
  5. Four homes in Walnut Creek and Alamo were hit by the same three burglars on Friday night, according to authorities. The homeowners were home in at least one case. "Two additional attempted burglaries were reported on Corte Briones in Martinez around 10:30 p.m. though it was not immediately known if the same crew was believed involved." (News 24/680)
