Hi, all! I'm back in your inbox this morning to walk you through all the most important things happening in Concord. Today you'll find news about...

  • The Concord City Council will consider revisions to the Housing Element on Tuesday.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. The Concord City Council will continue discussing revisions to Concord's Housing Element Update (HEU) tomorrow, January 17, "to address the housing needs of all Concord residents from 2023 to 2031." (Claycord.com)
  2. It's a race with Mother Nature on Kirker Pass Road, and I bet I know who's going to win. The mountain is sliding down onto the roadway, and is now inches from the side of the road. The folks driving by in this picture are braver than I am! (Claycord.com)
  3. A total of six vehicles were struck with "a projectile, possibly a pellet or BB" on Brentwood Boulevard in the City of Brentwood on Friday. Fortunately, without reports of injuries. The investigation is active and the perpetrators are still at large, so police are urging caution if you drive in the area. (Contra Costa News)
  4. The City of Lafayette will celebrate "over 175 years" of the city's history throughout 2023. "I want us to look back farther than just 175 years and look at the indigenous people who were on the land for thousands of years," Mayor Carl Anduri said. For information, visit: https://www.lovelafayette.org/why-lafayette/175plus. (lamorindaweekly.com)
  5. Sixteen-year-old Kimberly Wiese is a junior at Dougherty Valley High in San Ramon. She is also a 2028 Olympic hopeful in weightlifting. She started when she was 11 and quickly rose to the level of an elite athlete in the sport. Wiese is headed to Albania in March as a member of Team USA at the 2023 IWF World Youth Championships and is one to watch. "She is looking good to make an Olympic team. She is doing everything she needs to be doing," her coach said. (danvillesanramon.com)
