Making Memories On Mt. Diablo: Contra Costa Photos Of The Week
On a camping adventure to Mt. Diablo, members of a local Girl Scout troop honed skills, made memories and even got a visit from a raccoon.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Patch reader Jessica Hoverson sent in these photos of Girl Scout Troop 31927 — next-generation Patch readers, wink wink — on a recent camping adventure atop Mt. Diablo. Here's what Hoverson wrote in submitting the troop's photos for publication:
"Girl Scout Troop 31927, based at Mountain View Elementary in Concord, went camping on Mount Diablo (Boundary group campsite) as their final meeting of the school year. They worked on identifying insect homes, how to build a fire (along with all of the safety rules that go along with making a fire), cooked and cleaned up all of their meals, and used mess kits to minimize their waste.
"They set up camp and sang songs around the campfire! They had a nighttime raccoon visitor that provided lots of excitement and a little bit of a mess. Overall, it was an awesome experience for the girls and Mt. Diablo was absolutely beautiful!"
Thanks so much, Jessica, for sharing a bit of their adventure with us and your fellow Patch readers!
