Man, 25, Injured In Shooting This Morning On Hwy 4 In Concord

A 25-year-old man was injured in a shooting on state Highway 4 in Concord early this morning, police said.

Officers responded around 1 a.m. to a report of a shooting on westbound Highway 4 west of Willow Pass Road.

California Highway Patrol officers were already on scene and asked Concord police to investigate the shooting.

Investigators determined that the victim and his 22-year-old male passenger, both Oakland residents, were driving west on the highway in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am when a suspect vehicle pulled up alongside them, police said.

A passenger in the suspect vehicle fired several rounds at the Pontiac and one struck the victim in the leg.

He continued driving to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was treated and later released.

The passenger in the car was uninjured, according to police.

The suspect vehicle was described as a white Dodge Charger and officers found several 9mm rounds at the scene.

No other information about the suspects was immediately available this morning, police said.
