Man Bails On Carjacking When He Realizes He Can't Drive Stick Shift
The suspect reportedly pointed a gun and robbed victim, forced him out of the car, but was unable to drive away, Concord police said.

A man, who carjacked a vehicle in Concord early Sunday, abandoned his attempt when he realized he couldn’t drive a stick shift, police said.
Officers were dispatched to a carjacking that had just occurred at 12:16 a.m. at 1500 Monument Blvd., police said. Police said the victim got into his car and found a man inside, who pointed a gun at the victim and asked him to drive to a nearby location.
The suspect then reportedly demanded the victim’s money before forcing him out of the vehicle, police said.

The suspect tried to drive away, but police said he couldn’t drive the car, which has a manual transmission, and abandoned the vehicle.
Police said further investigation revealed the man was in the process of burglarizing or stealing the car when the victim unknowingly got inside.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man, roughly 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds, with a thin mustache. He was wearing a black hat, baggy white t-shirt, black sweater and jeans, police said.
